Description:

Compass Government Solutions is seeking a dedicated Psychologist to join our team in Eloy, AZ. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting individuals detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) through comprehensive behavioral health care and clinical coordination. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by delivering high-quality mental health services and ensuring continuity of care for a vulnerable population.

Job Duties:

Clinical Care & Assessment

  • Provide direct psychological care within scope of practice, including evaluations, psychological testing, counseling, psychotherapy, group therapy, substance abuse education, and behavioral analysis.
  • Conduct psychological assessments and develop individualized treatment plans in coordination with behavioral health technicians.
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients across the lifespan for adjustment issues, maladaptive behaviors, mental health disorders, and substance use conditions.
  • Refer patients to outside treatment facilities when clinically necessary and coordinate continuity of care.
  • Respond to medical emergencies as needed and participate in detoxification guidance for chemically dependent individuals.

Program Implementation & Oversight

  • Lead and provide oversight for multidisciplinary teams delivering integrated mental health treatment programs.
  • Serve as a mental health and substance abuse consultant to other health professionals within the facility.
  • Provide direction, consultation, and training to medical, ICE, and contract staff on risk assessment, suicide prevention, hunger strike management, abuse/neglect, and care for victims of torture.
  • Act as suicide prevention program coordinator when assigned.
  • Oversee and support behavioral health technicians and interns.

Telehealth Services

  • Deliver tele-behavioral health services when appropriate, using approved IHSC video teleconferencing equipment and EMR systems, in compliance with IHSC Tele-Mental Health Services policy.
  • Optionally obtain additional state licensure (at provider’s expense) to expand telehealth services if required by IHSC.

Case Management & Coordination

  • Manage casework involving community treatment placement, hospital placement, or other aftercare arrangements.
  • Coordinate and monitor Post Order Custody Reviews (POCR) and Availability of Health Care Programs.
  • Collaborate with HQ Behavioral Health Unit and external organizations to ensure continuity of care.
  • Facilitate contact between patients and their social support systems; maintain liaison with outside health and mental health professionals.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate, timely records in accordance with program policies, HIPAA, and the Privacy Act.
  • Ensure proficiency with electronic health records and complete all required clinical documentation.
  • Complete and pass initial and annual competency testing, required training, and performance improvement activities.
  • Adhere to IHSC policies, procedures, directives, and accreditation standards, as well as safety, infection control, quality improvement, and patient education programs.

Professional Engagement

  • Participate in medical staff meetings and interdisciplinary discussions.
  • Develop and deliver training and educational materials for clinical staff and stakeholders.
  • Assist IHSC in responding to external inquiries regarding ICE Case Management Unit-related issues.


Job Qualifications:

Required:

  • Doctoral degree in Psychology from a graduate program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA).
  • Degree must be issued by an institution/program recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of clinical practice at the licensed independent level as a clinical psychologist.
  • Full, current, and unrestricted license at the Doctoral level for the independent practice of Psychology in the state of duty station (any changes must be reported to employer).
  • Eligibility for inclusion in the National Registry of Psychologist Providers if graduated after January 1, 1982.
  • Meets requirements for Health Service Psychologist/Provider under appropriate state statutes if Doctoral degree received before January 1, 1992.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain privileging by IHSC.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers® certification through the American Heart Association® or the American Red Cross.

Preferred:

  • Experience implementing and managing a new mental health treatment program and/or a Modified Therapeutic Community treatment model.
  • Experience in a detention, correctional, or residential healthcare setting.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Knowledge of psychology functions, including observation, description, testing, evaluation, interpretation, diagnosis, and treatment.
  • Proficiency in using equipment, materials, and supplies for diagnostic and treatment procedures.
  • Strong understanding of the Modified Therapeutic Community treatment model.
  • Familiarity with a wide range of therapeutic modalities (e.g., art, music, drama, creative writing, life skills).
  • Ability to work effectively in multicultural and multilingual environments.
  • Ability to utilize interpreter/translation services when needed.
  • Flexibility in clinic scheduling to meet program/work requirements.
  • Proficiency in English (verbal and written); bilingual in Spanish strongly desired.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain positive working relationships in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Ability to navigate electronic systems, including electronic health records (EHR), web-based training, and communication tools.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint).
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, Privacy Act, and PII confidentiality regulations.
