Compass Government Solutions is seeking an Ultrasound Technologist to provide services at the Alexander T. Augusta Military Medical Center at Fort Belvoir, Virginia


This opportunity is part of a proposal effort. We are currently accepting applications from experienced candidates to be considered if the contract is awarded.

Schedule:

Shifts may vary 8,9,10,12, or 16 hours. Coverage is required at all times (24/7) by a qualified Ultrasound Technologist. Hiring for all shifts. 

Job Duties:
  • Perform their assigned duties with regard to all admitted patients, outpatients, and eligible 
  • beneficiaries regardless of underlying disease process or physical conditions.
  • Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations utilizing the appropriate ultrasound equipment.
  • Responsible for the independent operation of the appropriate ultrasound equipment and for 
  • communicating examination results.
  • Uses cognitive Sonography skills to identify, locate, evaluate, and record data as appropriate.
  • Assumes responsibility for the safety and wellbeing of all patients in the Sonography area and 
  • addresses problems/concerns of patient care as they arise. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Shall perform at a minimum the following examinations independently:

  1. Abdominal (complete, RUQ, and the abdominal wall) Examinations
  2. Aorta Abdominal/Iliac Examinations
  3. Breast Ultrasound Examinations-(Technologist assigned to Mammography Dept.)
  4. Carotid Examinations
  5. Doppler Vein Extremity Examinations
  6. Endovaginal Examinations
  7. Extremity (between the groin and knee, upper and lower venous extremity) Examinations
  8. Gall Bladder Examinations
  9. Popliteal Examinations
  10. Liver Examinations
  11. Single/Multiple Gestation Examinations
  12. Neck Examinations
  13. Pelvic Examinations
  14. Renal/Bladder Examinations
  15. Spleen Examinations
  16. Superficial Lesion Examinations
  17. Testicular Examinations
  18. Thyroid Examinations
  19. Independently differentiates between normal and pathologic structures
  20. Consults medical history ensuring appropriateness of examination
  21. Schedules, coordinates, and records examination results.
  22. Prepares and maintains operational logs.
  23. Calibrates and maintains equipment, orders supplies as needed.
  24. Be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures.
  25. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  26. Complete all required paperwork
  27. Utilize paraprofessionals as appropriate
  28. Perform documentation and patient care IAW JC guidelines.
  29.  Manages daily schedules, reviewing and dispositioning consults, monitoring appointment utilization and patient access to care, conducting mandatory clinical training, monitoring clinic supplies and equipment, ensuring enforcement of clinic SOPs and standards.

Quality Improvement shall include the following responsibilities:

  • Uphold established patient care and practice standards
  • Review and submit reports as required
  • Participate in all mandatory training
Job Qualifications:
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Basic understanding of computer use
  • Be able to read, write, speak, and understand English well enough to effectively communicate with all patients and other health care providers.

Education:

  • Certification as an Ultrasound Technologist


Certification/Licensure:

  • Registered in ultrasound as recognized by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ADRMS)
  • Basic Life Support


Experience:

  • A minimum of two (2) years experience as an Ultrasound Technologist
  • At least one (1) year of experience in a hands-on clinical application within the past two (2) years in a hospital setting.
