Compass Government Solutions is seeking a Mammography Technologist to provide services at the Alexander T. Augusta Military Medical Center at Fort Belvoir, Virginia

Schedule:

8 Hour shifts. Coverage is required at all times (24/7) by a qualified Mammography Technologist. Hiring for all shifts. 

Job Duties:
  • Perform routine to very difficult radiographic examinations of well and diseased breasts.
  • Perform radiological procedures and examinations such as film screen mammography and mammography guided needle biopsy procedures.
  • Receives patients, explains methods and procedures to patient and answers questions to alleviate concerns. Handles administrative matters as needed by department to include arriving and departing patients, scheduling, screening calls, call-backs, managing calendars, scanning, composing documents and organizing office clerical supplies.
  • Sets and adjusts accessory equipment. Make exposures on own initiative to provide complete studies for the radiologist’s review and interpretation. Sets up mammography suite, assures that sterile supplies, contract materials, biopsy needles, and other equipment required are present and laid out for each case. Follows and maintains sterile field procedures. Ensures that biopsy specimens are delivered to the laboratory for analysis.
  • Guarantees the integrity and consistency of mammographic studies. Maintains quality assurance tests on mammography equipment and processors per FDA regulations.
  • Provides support to other staff members when mammograms are not being accomplished. Specific areas of support include but are not limited to: filing, retrieving mammography films, greeting patients, and entering them into the department’s computerized workload accounting and scheduling system, Genesis, scheduling patients for mammography examinations, preparing appropriate paperwork and film jackets for the examinations. Maintain records of patients treated, examinations performed, views taken, scheduled patients, and requisition supplies.
  • Shall comply with the Department of Radiology administrative policies, which will be available for review in the Department of Radiology.
  • Shall comply with radiation protection measure by wearing radiation film badge when on duty in accordance with the Army Regulation 40.14, Control and Recording Procedure for Occupation 
  • Exposures to Ionizing Radiation Therapy Service in the Department Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) Manual.
  • Certificates shall be maintained in a current status at all times while performing services as a 
  • Mammography Technologist. If at any time during the contract, contract employee does not renew any of the required certifications prior to the expiration date; they will not be allowed to work. 
  • This expense shall be borne by the contract employee.
  • Maintain inpatient and outpatient medical records in accordance with [IAW] AR 40-60. Medical records will be subject to review by the Medical Care Evaluation Committee, Quality Assurance 
  • Committee, and designated representatives of the Commander, U.S. Army Medical Department Activity. Contract employee will have thorough knowledge of documentation requirements and hospital policies regarding the release of information to outside agencies; prepare correspondence and summaries to a variety of requestors, such as the Veterans Administration Hospitals, Social Security Administration, and Insurance Companies
  • Employee must abide by the Privacy Act to determine what types of patient information can be released. Genesis Contract physician will use the (Genesis) and Ambulatory Data Systems (ADS) for keeping records, ordering of ancillary procedures, ordering of medications, writing doctor’s orders, schedule follow-up visits and performing other required patient functions. The government will provide training "Automated Data Processing Sensitive" position requiring compliance with AR 380- 19 and AR 380-67. Refer to Addendum to FAR 52.212-4, "ADP Security Requirements", for further guidance. Ensure quality of care issues are documented and reported to appropriate personnel and corrective action is taken.
  • Complete all required paperwork. Utilize paraprofessionals as appropriate. Perform documentation and patient care IAW JC guidelines. The Contractor HCP shall assume additional administrative or clinical duties as requested or needed to ensure sustainment of normal clinic operations and ensure compliance with JC standards, to include, but not limited to, managing daily schedules, reviewing, and dispositioning consults, monitoring appointment utilization and patient access to care, conducting mandatory clinical training, monitoring clinic supplies and equipment, ensuring enforcement of clinic SOPs and standards.
  • Serve as liaison between the Defense Health Administration and the Veterans Administration.

Quality Improvement shall include the following responsibilities:

  • Uphold established patient care and practice standards.
  • Review and submit reports as required.
  • Participate in all mandatory training.
Job Qualifications:
  • Must be a US Citizen

Education:

  • Maintain 15 continuing Education Units (CEU) per 3-year period and meet the continuing experience of performing a minimum of 200 mammography examinations every two (2) years to mee the qualifications of the Mammography Quality Assurance Act of 1992.


Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Required registry in the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).


Experience:

  • At least one (1) year of experience in a hands-on clinical application within the past two (2) years in a hospital setting.
